Collections & product browsing
Where: POS — the bar above the product grid Who: cashiers (browsing) · managers (building collections in the dashboard)
The row of image tiles above the product grid is your collections bar — the fastest way to navigate a large catalog on a busy till.
Using it
- Tap a collection tile (e.g. Pizza, Desserts) → the grid filters to that collection's products.
- Tap it again (or All Products) to go back to the full catalog.
- Collections combine with the search box — filter to a collection, then search inside it.
What a collection is
Collections are flexible product groupings defined in the dashboard at Catalog → Collections. Two kinds:
| Type | Membership |
|---|---|
| Direct | You pick exactly which products belong |
| Dynamic | You set rules — e.g. category = Pizza, price under 5, brand = X — and the collection keeps itself up to date as products change |
Dynamic collections are why this bar is powerful: create a rule once and every product that matches — now and in the future — shows up under that tile. No manual assignment, no stale lists.
Good to know
- Collection images come from the dashboard and are stored on the device — tiles render offline.
- A product can belong to many collections — direct ones via explicit assignment, dynamic ones automatically.
- Building and editing collections is a dashboard job — see the Collections guide (Catalog section).
Troubleshooting
- A tile looks empty — for a dynamic collection, check its rule in the dashboard; if a direct collection, check that products are actually assigned.
- A product doesn't appear under the expected tile — verify the field the rule matches (e.g. its category) on the product page, and let the terminal finish a sync after changes.
