Pairing a new terminal
Where: Dashboard — Settings → POS Devices · Terminal — first-run screen Who: Manager or tenant owner generates the code; anyone at the till can enter it
Pairing links a POS device to a store — once. After that, the terminal knows exactly which account and store it serves, forever, until unlinked.
Before you start
- The POS app is installed and open on the device — it shows the Connect this terminal screen asking for a pairing code.
- You know which store this till belongs to.
Step 1 — Generate a pairing code (dashboard)
- Open Settings → POS Devices.
- Click Generate Pairing Code.
- Pick the store this terminal will serve.
- Give it a recognizable terminal name — e.g. Front Counter, Bar Till 2. This is how you'll identify the device later.
- Choose how long the code stays valid (5 minutes to 1 hour).
- Generate, then copy the code — it looks like
UKTV-9KZK.
WARNING
Codes are single-use and expire quickly. Generate one per terminal, right when you're ready to pair. If a code expires or is already used, just generate another — it costs nothing.
Step 2 — Enter it on the terminal (POS)
- Type the code into the pairing screen.
- The terminal shows a confirmation — "Link to <your store>?" — so you can verify it's connecting to the right place before anything is committed.
- Confirm. The terminal links to the store and immediately downloads your catalog, stock, customers and POS-enabled cashiers — the first import takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes depending on catalog size.
Step 3 — First sign-in
After the import, the terminal asks for a cashier. Sign in with a POS-enabled user (name + PIN) — and the till is live.
What just happened (in one breath)
The code told the server which store and account this device belongs to; the server issued the terminal its own permanent credentials; nothing sensitive — no account IDs or master keys — ever touched the cashier's screen.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid or expired code" — the code was already used or timed out. Generate a fresh one.
- Wrong store on the confirmation screen? Cancel — the code targets the store chosen at generation. Generate a new code for the right store.
